A 2-year-old Beverly boy died Wednesday in Children's Hospital in Columbus after he nearly drowned in a bathtub in his home Monday evening.
He was left unattended by a household member while that person went to prepare an evening snack.
The Beverly-Waterford Fire Department responded to the scene after the household member found the child unresponsive in the tub. He was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital before being transported to Children's Hospital in Columbus in order to be put on life support.
Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks, confirmed that the child did pass away but declined to release any other details Wednesday. The Washington County Sheriff's Office is assisting the Beverly Police Department in an investigation of the incident.
