Boosters groups for Marietta Schools activities, aided by Broughton Foods Inc., have set a goal to raise $210,000 needed to support extracurricular activities for the 1988-89 school year.
Patrolman Brett McKitrick operated the traffic lights at Third and Washington streets by hand controls in an attempt to ease traffic Monday afternoon. The attempt was relatively unsuccessful, as once one direction was cleared the other three backed up for several blocks.

Barge bottoms arrived from Pittsburgh. The barge bottoms will be used to make a pontoon bridge across the Muskingum River while the Putnam Street Bridge is rebuilt.
Water furnished by the Marietta water works can now be used without first boiling it.
