William "Al" Allan Best, 75, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away on Saturday (April 27, 2013) at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 26, 1937, to the late Harold Julius Willard Best and Edna Geneva (Schwartz) Best of Marietta.
William retired from GE Plastics of 34 years. After his retirement he enjoyed doing crafts with his grandchildren, gardening, and bird watching.
He is survived by his wife, of which they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 25; Mary Lee (Buck) Best; one daughter, Whitney Ann (Best) Rahberger (Jeff); two sons, William Allan Best II (Janet) and Wesley Andrew Best; one sister, Elizabeth Elston (Jack); and grandchildren, Margaret "Maggie" Lindsay Best-Miller, Mackenzie LeeAnn Best, William Allan Best III, Mallory Danielle Best, and Caroline Grace Best.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Schaffer; and one brother, Willard Best.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses and staff on the fifth floor of Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital and Housecalls Hospice nurses for their kind and caring support.
The funeral service will be Tuesday (April 30) at 3 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday two hours prior to the service from 1 to 3 p.m.
