On May 3, during the 85th Ohio FFA State Convention, Blake Campbell was elected to serve as a state FFA officer for the 2013-2014 school year.
Campbell was elected to serve as next year's District 10 president and is one of only 16 state officers elected to representing 23,000 Ohio FFA members state wide.
In order to qualify for the state officer ballot, Campbell had to participate in a rigorous interview process that included a general interview, extemporaneous interview, "Why I Desire" to be an Ohio FFA: Officer interview, a writing exercise and take a written assessment.
Campbell will begin his year of service with training sessions where he will meet and get acquainted with the remaining state officer team members, learn about his responsibilities, and plan and set goals for the upcoming year. Campbell will receive additional training at the National Leadership Conference for State Officers (NLSCO) with state officers from other states. Campbell will then spend the summer attending FFA Camp Muskingum sessions that are held in Carrollton, Ohio.
During the fall, Campbell will present chapter workshops, Greenhand speeches, and help conduct numerous fall camps and coordinate and present the fall OLLC conference. As a state officer, Campbell will serve as a delegate to the National FFA Convention in October and hold a holiday celebration for their families in December.
As winter continues, plans for the Ohio State FFA Convention become a priority and Campbell will begin preparing to attend chapter meetings, activities and banquets. As convention nears, he will spend time writing scripts, finalizing committee work, and practicing for Ohio's 86th State FFA Convention.
Campbell is the son of Joe and Bridget Campbell of Waterford.
