Mable Marie "Chunk" Jeffers, 69, of Marietta, passed away at her home June 4, 2013.
She was born Nov. 10, 1943, in Marietta, to Earnest John Allen and Lucille Unger Allen. Mable was a graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1961, and attended Marietta Area Technology School of Nursing and graduated with an LPN degree on Sept. 23, 1962. She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army Thrift Store, was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 5108 and had served as treasurer for 17 years, was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 64, and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.
On April 15, 1970, she married George E. Jeffers, who preceded her in death on June 25, 1993.
Surviving are her children, George (Brandy) Jeffers II of Newark, Allen Jeffers of Marietta, Amy (Brian) Harmon of Uniontown, Ohio, Ann Jeffers (Marci Edwards) of Marietta; grandchildren: George III "Tres" Jeffers, Zachary and Miles Harmon; sisters-in-law, Jean (Walter) Nolen-Ellis, Norma (Earl) Drake, Carolyn (Mike) Naylor; brothers-in-law, Clarence (June) Jeffers and Ralph Dale Weaver; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mable was preceded in death by her sister, Maryanna Weaver.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Saturday (June 8) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral home with Major Karen Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. Friday with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
