George Montgomery, of Warner, had a narrow escape from being run over by the Pennsylvania passenger train enroute to Marietta, after falling asleep on the tracks. The crew was able to stop the train a within a few feet of Montgomery.
Dr. J.D. Parr, of Marietta, county coroner, pleaded guilty to the charge of using mail to defraud. Indictments regarded letters exchanged between Dr. Parr and residents of New Martinsville and Davis W.Va., who sent him money for proposed medical services.
