The Ohio Fire Marshal's Office thinks the burning of a vacant Lawrence Township home earlier this month is suspicious.
The house at 1505 Brooks Road, Marietta, burned to the ground on the morning of June 9. Fire marshal's spokesman Michael Duchesne said the investigation remains open and ongoing, and the office is asking for the public's help in determining what happened.
The cause is "currently undetermined, but they do believe it's suspicious in nature," Duchesne said Monday.
People with information on the case are asked to call 1-800-589-2728.
The Little Muskingum and Newport volunteer fire departments responded to the blaze, along with Washington County sheriff's deputies. According to a sheriff's report, first responders say they saw a dark-colored Chevrolet Malibu driving away from the house, which was for sale
