Rabies shot clinic set for Little Hocking
A rabies shot clinic for dogs and cats will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Little Hocking Township Park on Ohio 124. The cost is $7 per animal. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in carriers. All pets must be at least 12 weeks old.

Free HIV testing at county health dept.
Free, anonymous HIV testing will be done from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Washington County Health Department, 342 Muskingum Drive, Marietta. Call ahead for an appointment at 374-2782, Ext. 1021.
Oak Grove VFD to hold ice cream social
The Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual ice cream social beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be chicken dinners, hot dogs, ice cream, pies and cakes. There will also be inflatables, games, a train ride for children, a country store, 50/50 drawings and prize raffles with drawings to begin at 7 p.m. Union Valley Bluegrass will perform from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Those interested in helping can call 525-4640.
Shrine Club to host golf outing Aug. 17
The Marietta Shrine Club will be hosting a golf outing Aug. 17 at the Marietta Country Club with registration beginning at 7:30 am. The scramble will have a different scenario and skill prizes at every hole. The first place prize pays $400. There will also be a putting contest. The entry fee of $75 includes golf, a cart, breakfast and lunch. Advertising packages are available.

Annual EVE?auction planned for Aug. 23
The 31st annual benefit auction for EVE, Inc. will be Aug. 23 at the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta. A silent auction will be followed by a live auction. There will be refreshments and a cash bar. Admission is $20 per person or $175 for a table of 10. Reservations are suggested by calling 374-5820.
Barlow library to host music program
The Barlow Library will host a "Traditional Appalachia Music" program with Steve Williams at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Williams will perform Appalachian folk music including mouth harp, harmonica, gourd banjo, mandolin and other traditional instruments. The event is free and open to the public.
