Paul David McCafferty, of Marietta, passed away on Aug. 1, 2013, at the age of 66, at Ohio State Medical Center. He was born on Nov. 24, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Paul H. and Helen McCafferty.
Dave is survived by his wife, Carol McCafferty; step-mother, Virginia McCafferty; sister, Janet Harold; son, Shawn McCafferty (Sabina); daughters, Shelley Callicoat (Gary) and Staci McCafferty (Jesse); step-children, Ami Shaver (Steve), Todd Weaver, Toni Weaver, and Angi Smith (Sean); grandchildren, Alex, Nick, Isabella, Sullivan, Calli, Dylan, Austin, Grace, Noah, and Drew. Dave is also survived by nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Dave touched so many lives with his outgoing and caring personality. He was the last to bed and the first to rise. He loved the Buckeyes, playing euchre with his friends at the Elks, fishing at Lake Erie, playing golf and cornhole, or anything at all with his wife, kids and grandkids. He never missed a vacation, camping trip or get-together. Dave was a hard working, selfless man. He was the first to call his friends and family to offer his help on any project. He was an animal lover (except geese) who had a special place in his heart for his cat, Tabby. Dave loved life to the fullest and will be missed by everyone.
Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 11, at Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg from 1 to 3 p.m. with Military Honors conducted by the Williamstown American Legion at 3 p.m.
