The man connected with a burned body found last month in Morgan County was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Zanesville.
Shaquille Davis, 19, of 901 Ayers St., Zanesville, was taken without incident by the Zanesville Police Department Special Response Team early in the afternoon, said Muskingum County Prosecutor Mike Haddox.
Davis has been charged in Muskingum County with aggravated murder with a gun specification in the July 24 death of 24-year-old Phillip Lawrence Kimbro Jr.
Davis and Kimbro were first cousins, said Haddox.
Kimbro's body was found by a tree trimming crew on County Road 15 in Morgan County on July 25. His body had apparently been set on fire.
He was identified through a fingerprint match.
The focus of the investigation shifted from Morgan County into Muskingum County last week after a search warrant was executed at Davis' home on July 29 and 30.
Haddox would not comment on whether the suspected murder weapon had been recovered.
The fact that a gun was used in the crime was determined through forensic evidence, he said.
Haddox did not know if the cousins had ties to Morgan County.
The investigation is still ongoing and more people could be charged in connection with the case, added Haddox.
