Demolition work began on the 80-year-old First Baptist Church of Williamstown. Eva Joy, secretary of the church building committee said it was cheaper to build a new building than to renovate. A new church building will be built at the same location.
Marietta College has added new sections of a few classes to compensate for a 30 percent increase in freshmen for the fall semester.
100 years ago
Harry Le Fever, 13, suffered a broken arm when his horse became frightened and threw him and a companion from the buggy they were in. Le Fever was brought to Marietta for treatment.
John Hanes, of Newport, was taken into custody by Constable Harry Dyar. A charge of non support was filed by Celia Hanes, his wife. Mrs. Hanes alleges that he failed to provide for their minor child, a boy of four years.
