Washington Technical College completed its purchase of an 81-acre property from the heirs of the Rood family, where construction of a new campus is expected to begin by next spring. The Ohio General Assembly approved $5.35 million for the new facility, and the land, located between Colegate Drive and Interstate 77, was purchased for about $400,000.

Construction on a drive-in drug store, the only one in a five-state area, began yesterday at the corner of Front and Marion streets. Built by National Drug Stores, Inc., the brick structure of colonial design will have two drive-in windows, as well as an air-conditioned, walk-in facility.
100 years ago
Mrs. Elza Boord of Layman entertained 101 members of the Robinson and Martin families at their fourteenth annual reunion. Guests traveled by carriage, automobile, and train to partake in the bountiful dinner and social time on the lawn. The home of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Martin, near Tunnel, will be the location of next year's reunion.
