REEDSVILLE - Zack Scowden's two second-quarter touchdowns proved to be more than enough for Eastern in a 28-0 win against Waterford on Friday night.
The 5-foot-9, 165-pound running back finished with a game-high 88 yards rushing on 18 carries as the Eagles improved to 2-2.
Eastern's defense set the tone by limiting Waterford to minus-7 yards of total offense in the first quarter. Trailing 15-0 at intermission, the Wildcats didn't cross midfield in the second half until the four-minute mark of the fourth quarter. That same drive stalled in their own territory and resulted in one of six punts on the evening.
Making matters worse were the four quarterback sacks registered by the Eagles, including two by Brent Welch, and a pair of interceptions.
Waterford, which slipped to 1-3, finished with 53 yards of total offense compared to 309 for Eastern.
The Eastern touchdown occurred at the 11:49 mark of the second quarter when Scowden took the handoff with the line of scrimmage at the Waterford 36-yard line, sprinted to the outside and made it to the end zone standing up.

The first of two Christian Speelman extra point kicks gave the Eagles a 7-0 lead.
Eastern's next possession stalled at its own 18, but Waterford muffed the punt return and the Eagles recovered at the Wildcats' 28-yard line.
Four plays later with the Eagles facing first-and-20 from the 27, quarterback Chase Cook dropped back to pass and zipped an attempt into the middle of the end zone where it landed into the arms of Scowden for the touchdown.
Scowden also ran for the two-point conversion and with 5:35 left before halftime the Eastern advantage was 15-0.
Eastern tacked on two more scores in the fourth quarter.
An interception by Jeff Facemyer midway in the final period gave Eastern possession at the Waterford 26. Despite throwing two incompletions on the scoring drive, quarterback Dylan Bresciani rushed three times for a total of 26 yards, including the 4-yard dive which resulted in six points with 4:27 showing on the clock.
Eastern wasn't content with the 21 points because on the first play from scrimmage on its next series and only 55 ticks left on the clock, Bresciani connected with Daschle Facemyer in stride for a 76-yard touchdown completion.
Cook added 50 yards on nine carries for the Eagles, while Waterford's Dylan Lang produced a team-high 43 yards on the ground on 12 attempts.
