World Wrestling Entertainment's vampirish "Gangrel" will be a headliner during Saturday's eighth Throwdown for the Pound event at Marietta Middle School.
"He's part vampire and is a legend in the wrestling world," said Adam Johnson, manager of We Luv Pets who promotes and helps coordinate the twice-yearly Throwdown pro wrestling events that benefit the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley animal shelter.
Also appearing Saturday is female wrestler Marie Kanellis.
"She had a great career with the WWE, but wanted to go into singing and acting," Johnson said. "But she continues in the wrestling world and appears on the Ring of Honor professional wrestling television show."
Advance ticket holders will have an opportunity to meet Gangrel in a special pre-show event from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Rent-to-Own store in Marietta's Lafayette Plaza.
"They can have their photo taken with Gangrel and get his autograph," Johnson said.

Steve Herron, manager of the local animal shelter on Mount Tom Road, said the Throwdown for the Pound is one of the agency's top fundraisers, with proceeds going to support the shelter's many needs.
"We try to do a Throwdown event every six months, and since this is October we wanted to have something with a Halloween theme," he said.
The doors for Saturday's show will open at 6 p.m., and the bell for the first wrestling match rings at 7 p.m.
"These events generally last for about three hours, so people definitely get their moneysworth," Herron said.
Tickets are available online through promoting organization Remix Pro Wrestling, at We Luv Pets in the Lafayette Plaza on Pike Street in Marietta, or at the door the day of the event. General admission is $10, and Johnson said Tuesday that ringside seats were sold out, but there were about 120 third row seats available for $15 each.
"We usually have pretty good attendance-about 500 people at every event," Johnson said.
Herron said in addition to the Throwdown, there will be a pancake breakfast at Applebees in the Lafayette Plaza from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday to benefit the animal shelter.
Johnson added that a shelter pet adopt-a-thon would be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at We Luv Pets.
