EAST LIVERPOOL - The East Liverpool Potter seniors rang the victory bell loud and long following their 35-7 triumph the Vincent Warren Warriors last night at East Liverpool's Patterson Field.
The Potters improved to 2-5, while the visitors dropped to 2-5.
East Liverpool's Zach English paced the Potters' ground attack with 188 yards on 25 carries and posted three touchdowns. As a team, the Potters churned out 236 yards rushing on 40 carries. They rushed for five touchdowns.
"We finally put in a full, solid week of practice, and it showed," said East Liverpool head coach Rick Prescott. "This was a great win for our seniors at Patterson Field. It's great to see them ring the bell."
English picked up the Potters' first touchdown when he took a pitchout from quarterback Kade Reynolds and sped 59 yards around the left side of the Warriors' defense. The PAT failed, leaving the home team with a 6-0 lead at the 11:11 juncture of the second period.
"I mostly used my speed on the first score," said English. "The line really helped me. They blocked hard all night long."

The Potters briskly marched down the field on their next possession, which included a 29-yard gallop by English. Reynolds teamed up with wide receiver D.J. Austin on passes of 14 and 15 yards, the second one putting the ball on the Warrior one-yard line. Two plays later, Reynolds bolted in on a quarterback sneak.
East Liverpool went for two on the PAT, with Reynolds scrambling right before tossing an aerial to tight end to Austyn Dozier for a 14-0 lead.
Taking over with just 2:36 remaining in the first half, the Warriors needed just six plays to travel 65 yards for a score. The scoring tally came as Andrew Henthorn broke free in the back of the end zone to pull in a 25-yard scoring toss with just 54 seconds left in the half. Alex Miller's conversion kick pulled the visitors to within seven, 14-7, as the two teams reached intermission.
During the first half, English rushed for 118 yards on 15 carries.
The Potters needed just six plays to score on their first possession of the second half. With a second-and-two at the Warren 32, English feinted inside then broke left, finally stopping after he reached the end zone. John Miscuk barged in for the two-point conversion and a 22-7 Potter lead.
"This is a great experience on senior night," Miscuk said, who repeatedly upset the visitors' backfield with well-timed stunts and blitzes from his linebacker spot. "I wanted to play as hard as I could in my last game at Patterson Field. Early on, I learned their snap count and was able to time it up."
The Potters put the game away with two scores in the fourth quarter, as English and Reynolds scored on runs of three yards and one yard respectively.
Justin Barr's placement kick after Reynolds' tally boosted the Potters lead to 35-7 with 4:30 remaining.
"We were successful early on, going off tackle and then breaking to the outside," said Prescott. "Eventually they started going heavy to the outside, so we started going inside. It became just like a checkers match after that."
Prescott was particularly pleased with the play of his linebacking corps of Miscuk, John Rickerd, Kaleb Tallent, Dillan Reynolds and Jason Kutzner, saying out, "They read and reacted. They kept pressure on Vincent Warren all night."
The Potters will play at Oak Glen Friday. Vincent Warren is at Gallia.
