Once again, our community has shown it cares. The 31st Annual Eve Benefit Auction was a great success - over $27,000 was raised - all because of the wonderful support we received from the community, local businesses and the many individuals who attended, bid for items and had fun at the event. Eve could not continue its work of providing emergency housing, support and assistance to survivors of domestic violence and their families without this critical support.
Local auctioneers, Charlie and Keelan McLeish, volunteered their time and once again energized the crowd. Washington County Sheriff's office provided a security presence and Joe Testerman provided the computer support, built a network and provided the technical assistance that helped us catalog over 200 items for our check-out in less than 5 hours..
The Washington State Community College Phi Theta Kappa chapter students expertly organized the Silent Auction items so that we were able to "silently" auction over 150 items in less than two hours. The Marietta College Society of Petroleum Engineers students assisted with a variety of tasks throughout the evening including displaying items during the live auction. Doug Hess provided the music that entertained us throughout.
We honored as our Friend of Eve award recipient, Coldwater Creek, for their tremendous support and assistance. We were pleased to once again be able to recognize with our annual Dove Award an outstanding volunteer, Eagle Scout Wesley McDowell. This year, the Eve staff honored one of its own with the employee of the year award and that recipient was Esther Carpenter.
We would also like to publicly acknowledge the many contributors to our auction:
