Baker & Baker Jewelers has been a part of the historic downtown of Marietta for 95 years, and this month they are preparing to celebrate their anniversary event.
The offering of fine jewelry and gifts has continued through good times and challenging ones. The humble beginning in 1866 (Peddinghaus Jewelers) and except for all too frequent floods in the early (and late) years, small fires, several wars, burglaries, and financial depressions not-with-standing, they have continued to be "Open for Business." Their name change in 1918 resulted from a recommendation of the National Jewelers Association to update those stores whose ownership had changed. Thus they became Baker & Baker Jewelers, according to Gertrude and Norman Baker.
Heritage is fine, but they know their main thrust is to continue to offer high quality jewelry at a fair value an impeccable service. "Our integrity is at the core value of our business," said Larry Hall and wife, Nancy, owners since 1994. "We also stay involved in our communities here in the Valley," said Nancy. "We have raised and educated three children here and it truly is our home. Our daughter Charla is our store manager, so the family tradition carries on today." The Halls continue to look forward to providing their customers and friends the quality of merchandise and knowledge about fine jewelry and watches and were just voted "2013 Readers Choice" for the best jewelry store for repairs and appraisals.
Visit them on Facebook or Bakernbaker.com to view the engagement rings and fine jewelry being offered. The Hearts On Fire collection is their flagship brand because it is avant garde. The store is located in the historic downtown at 105 Putnam St. near Front Street.
Store hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until 7 p.m. on Fridays, and until 4 p.m. on Saturdays (or by appointment).
They can be reached at 373-7777 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
