Robin Daniel Smith Jr., 85, of Beverly, Ohio, died Monday (Nov. 11, 2013) at his home. He was born Dec. 4, 1927, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of Robin Daniel Smith Sr. and Pansy Roberts Smith.
He was a school teacher and was retired from Northridge High School in the Licking County School District. He graduated from Newark High School and graduated from Ohio University with a B.S in education in 1953 and his Masters in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII. He was a 60 year member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #37 F& AM, American Legion Post #750, Lifetime member of the NRA, and served as secretary for AOLRC for 25 years. He loved to camp, fish and hunt.
He was married Sept. 7, 1967, to Patty Taylor Smith who survives. Also surviving are four children: Sheryl Parkinson and husband John of Newark, Ohio, Bob Smith of Zephyr Hills, Fla., Kimberly Balachowski and husband Brian of Claremore, Okla., and Mike Smith and wife Beth of Beverly; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Steven Balachowski, Taylor Balachowski, Natalie Smith and Brady Smith; two sisters, Jane Gatrell and husband Larry of Lancaster and Sally Brigham of Granville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Carl Smith and twin sisters, Gloria and Glenna.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with the Rev. Don Young officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday with a Masonic to follow.
