Retired school teacher Dorothy Oyster volunteers in classrooms three days a week at Harmar School. Oyster taught seventh-grade English and Ohio history for 20 years, but now enjoys working with first and second-grade students.

Volunteers will be planting Kwanzan Cherry trees along the business portion of Second Street as part of a city uniform planting policy. The Ginkgo trees recently planted in front of the Citizens National Bank will be replaced, as they had been planted without approval of the tree commission.

The custom of walking from Athens to Marietta to see the annual football game between the Ohio University team and the Marietta College eleven is being followed this year by several Phi Delts, who started from Athens Tuesday afternoon. The boys stayed all night in Stewart and plan to arrive in Marietta Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
