Norm Cummings has gone from Washington County to Washington, D.C., but promises his hometown area won't be forgotten. The 1966 Warren High School graduate will become political director of the Republican National Committee in January.

Marietta High School football coach, Bill Bonar, announced that four of his players have been named to the All-Central Ohio League. The Tigers, who played various positions during the 1963 season, are John Shonnard, Jack MacRae, Bob Whetsell, and Roger Fulmer. The League team was selected by a vote of sports writers.
100 years ago
Washington County Commissioners voted to issue $20,000 worth of bonds for the county agricultural experiment farm. As the recent floods have caused the county great expense, the commissioners are against this expenditure, but voters at the recent election have taken the matter out of their hands.
