Joseph Kent Ellyson, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., passed away suddenly Wednesday (Nov. 27, 2013) after a long illness.
Joe was born Aug. 1, 1958, at Parkersburg, W.Va., the son of Willard Ellyson and Kathryn Black Ellyson.
Along with his parents, he is survived by his wife, Teresa Allen Ellyson, daughter, Danielle Brooke Harter (Timothy), grandson, Kaiden William Harter, all of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; his sister, Rebecca Mason (Paul), Marietta. He is also survived by several loved aunts, an uncle, cousins, along with nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter Ellyson and Rosa Price Ellyson, Edgar Black and Mary Harris Black; also uncles, aunts and cousins.
Joe was a 1977 graduate of Warren Local High School, Vincent, and was in the U.S. Army for four years. He had been employed in the cement industry, being a truck driver and paver plant operator before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his family history, spending time with his grandson and drinking his favorite drink - Dr. Pepper.
Joe enjoyed helping people. In a final act of kindness, he made a donation to the Lions Eye Institute.
A memorial service will be held Dec. 7, 2013 starting at 10 a.m. at Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church, 8260 Cypress Lake Dr., Fort Myers, Fla.
