Dwight O. Burge, 83, of Marietta quietly passed away Saturday (Dec. 28, 2013) at the Marietta Care Center. Dwight's final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.
Dwight was born May 15, 1930 in Chesterhill to Blaine and Ethel Gheen Burge. He married Billie Rhea Clester on July 17, 1953.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Billie; daughter, Rebecca Burge Koptish (Roger) of Poquoson, Va.; two grandsons, Jason Koptish (Leigh) of Quinton, Va., Ryan Koptish (Kellie) of Purcelville, Va.; one granddaughter, Megan Koptish; three great grandchildren, Noah, Parker and Caleb Koptish; one sister, Marilyn Johnson (Carl) of Marietta and several nieces and nephews. Dwight's father, mother, brother and nephew preceded him in death.
Mr. Burge retired from the Washington County Career Center in 1992. Dwight served in the United States Army from 1948-1952. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. Dwight's grandchildren were the light of his life and he will always be remembered for his funny stories and sense of humor.
Dwight was a dedicated member of the Bartlett Lodge No. 293, F.&A.M. and American Union Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M. where he previously served as Master of the Lodge.
A private family service will be held Saturday (Jan. 4, 2014) at Hadley Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Laughery officiating. Masonic Rights will be observed. A remembrance may be made to American Union Lodge No. 1, F.&A.M., 308 Front St., Marietta 45750.
