Frontier senior Drew Schneider (3) is both a standout basketball and baseball player.
Sports: basketball and baseball
Colleges being considered: undecided
Possible major: mechanical and electrical engineering
Family: Frosty and Missy Schneider (dad and mom) of Dart; one older brother, Jarrod
Question: What is your favorite sport?
Answer: Basketball. I've always played it, and my dad's always coached me. Coach (Roger) Kirkpatrick (Frontier boys' basketball boss) is also a pretty good coach.
Q: Would you like to play at the next level (college)?
A: I've been thinking about it.
Q: What are your expectations, goals for your senior season at Frontier?
A: We've improved every (basketball) season since I've played here, and I'd like to win a sectional tournament game. We almost did last year but lost by two points. Hopefully this year, we will win a tournament game.
Individually, I'd like to set the school record in threes for a single game. (Currently, Drew is tied with two other Cougar players with nine apiece.)
Q: What are some of the basketball and baseball highlights that stand out during your career?
A: Definitely scoring 33 points in a game. That was a first for me. (On Dec. 23, 2013, Drew scored 33 points, including nine threes, in an 89-46 Frontier win over Beallsville at Hank Morus Gymnasium.) That was a lot of fun. Everything just clicked for me and I shot the ball really well. I got a lot of screens from my teammates, and the whole team played just really well.
In baseball, I've played three infield positions (short, second and third, and I'm proud that I've batted over .300 every year I've played.
Q: Who has impacted or influenced you the most during your sports career at Frontier?
A: My parents have been there since Day 1. I don't think they've ever missed one of my games.
Q: Do you have any other interests outside of basketball and baseball?
A: I like to golf. I'm just a beginner but I like it. Wish the school had had a team. During the summer, I played basketball and golfed.
