Robert Deo Whited, 71, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Saturday (Jan. 25, 2014) at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
He was born May 28, 1942, in Roane County, W.Va., a son of the late Ottis and Anna Randolph Whited. Robert was a 1960 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1961 and served for four years in Japan and other areas of the world. Robert went to work for the City of Vienna in 1965 and retired as a foreman from the Water Department in 2011. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and being in the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Martha Stephens Whited; two daughters, Heather Mixson and husband, Phillip, and Robin Alawat Strauss and husband, Jason, all of Vienna; one son, Matthew Whited and wife, Nicki, of Vienna; 10 grandchildren, Erica, Amy, P.J., Emmy, Lea, Caleb, Aubrey, Alyssa, Ayden, and Austin; two sisters, Jackie Bartlett of North Carolina and Sheila Bartlett of Belpre; two brothers, Roger and Randy Bartlett, both of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his stepmother, Doris Whited, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a son-in-law, Anthony Alawat; one brother, Michael Whited; one sister, Deloris Armstrong; and one infant sister, Karen Whited.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 30, 2014) at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna. Interment will follow at the Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
