Washington County Engineer Paul Junk recommended Putnam Street or Butler Street as the best locations to build the replacement for the current Putnam Street Bridge. Other sites under consideration were Greene Street, Colegate Drive, and Ohio 821.

The children of Marietta's Friendship School put return envelopes into over 2,400 mailers for the March of Dimes fund raiser. Dr. Phillip Emmert is the Washington County chairman for the foundation.

Captain Webster of the steamer Sonoma has been employed to operate the city ferry over the Muskingum at Washington Street. Webster will use a ten-horse power launch, operated with a propeller.
