Elva P. Stuart, 88, of Marietta, passed away Wednesday (April 2, 2014) at Heartland of Marietta. She was born Tuesday, May 19, 1925, in Gay, W.Va., to the late Ernie and Etta Allen Parsons.
Elva was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, volunteered at Marietta Memorial Hospital, delivered Meals on Wheels, raised money for food doing Crop Walks, was a member of the Reno Garden Club and most of all enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by her daughter, Patsy Thomas of Marietta; granddaughters, Brenda (Mark) Holobaugh of Columbus, Melissa (Shawn) Harrow of Marietta; great-grandchildren, Allen and Jennifer Holobaugh of Columbus, Tiffany Holobaugh of Marietta, Abigail, Austin and Olivia Harrow, all of Marietta; great-great-grandchildren, Kaylyn Science of Marietta and Avery Holobaugh of Columbus; sisters, Goldie Rhodes of Ripley, W.Va. and Stella Leach of Parkersburg. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Stuart, a son-in-law, Charles "Chuck" Thomas, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta with burial to follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
