- To mark the city's 176th birthday, the Marietta Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, presented a copy of the play, "Marietta, Queen of the Northwest Territory," by the late Miss Luna Hunter, to Campus Martius Museum. The play deals with the settlement of Marietta in 1788.
100 years ago
- Pioneer Day was observed with a luncheon hosted by the Washington County Pioneer Association and other historical and patriotic groups at the First Baptist Church. The Honorable Charles S. Dana was toastmaster of the event, and the oration was made by the Honorable Levi Goodale, president of the New England Society of Cincinnati.
