50 years ago
Mrs. Margaret Thompson, well known to Marietta High School students, will retire this spring after 37 years of teaching. She has taught over 7,000 different students in English, from the ninth through the 11th grades, and also served as junior class advisor, Orian advisor, and coach for several plays.
100 years ago
Norwood, Marietta's eastern suburb, is being lighted during the night for the first time by the city system. About twenty 200-candlepower tungsten lamps were erected, requiring the planting of 19 new poles and the stringing of six and a half miles of line.
