Following the resignation of Third Ward Councilman, Russel Roane, Marietta City Council unanimously elected James F. Schweikert who said it was a privilege to join council and serve the city.

Plans for repaving Front and Putnam streets with concrete base and cement filling were dealt a heavy blow. A majority of property owners opposed the heavy expenditure on the project, saying that repairs could be made to last four or five years with the use of some new brick where necessary, and relaying the old brick.
