H. Sheldon (Pap) Haynes, 73, of Belpre, died May 24, 2014, at his residence.
He was born in Wheeling, W.Va., on Jan. 3, 1941, and was the son of the late Hayward A. and Ellalee (Jake) Pickering Haynes.
He was a graduate of Belpre High School where he played and excelled in all sports. He had coached basketball for many years. He had been in sales for most of his life having worked for Smith Brothers in Columbus. He co-owned Casa de Pizza in Belpre, was owner of La Boutique and the Hair Boutique. He had also worked for Dow and Peoples Bank. He was a 50-year member of the United Commercial Travelers.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joy Haynes; his daughter, Dena (Mitch) Watson of Belpre; and two grandchildren, Nate Watson of Belpre and Audrey Watson and her fiance, Brandon Mercer, of Belpre. Also surviving are two sisters, Jennifer (Cliff) Wilson of Mineral Wells and Debbie Dietz of Belpre; and one niece and three nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Betty Wigal officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
