Gela Dawn Williams Roberts, 77, of Parkersburg, passed away May 25, 2014, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
She was born April 23, 1937, in Newville, (Braxton County), W.Va., a daughter of the late Karl O. and Elsie Hudkins Williams.
Gela was a 1955 graduate of Sutton High School and attended West Virginia Business College in Fairmont. She had worked for Monongahela Power Co., Ravens Metal, and retired from Buckeye Hills Hocking Valley Regional Development District. She had been a member of Alpha Iota Sorority for over 50 years. She was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday school, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed being a homemaker while her daughters were growing up, and worked with Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. Gela was beloved by her family and everyone who knew her.
Surviving Gela are her husband of 55 years, Jack W. Roberts; daughters, Debra Higgins (Jeff) of Parkersburg and Lori Gainer (Chris) of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; three grandchildren, Marcus and Gabriella of Parkersburg and Kiernan of Reynoldsburg; great-grandson, Zaydyn of Parkersburg; three brothers, Wetzel C. Williams of Woodsfield, Ohio, Nelson Williams (Betty Ann) of Fellsmere, Fla., and Marvin Williams of Newville, W.Va.; and two sisters, Freda Babyak (AL) and Mary Ann Blue (Jim), all of Hemet, Calif.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Diane Keaston officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
