Neta O'Connell, 86, a loving wife and mother, devoted daughter, fun-loving grandmother and caring sister, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014.
Born Aug. 20, 1927, in Canton, Ohio, she was the third of 10 children.
She grew up in Marietta, Ohio, and as a young bride, she worked as a secretary for Western Electric before relocating to Miami, Fla., in 1960, with her husband, Conleth, and daughter, Eileen. In Miami, she worked in the Admission's Office and English department of Florida International University until her retirement in 1999. Neta then retired to Jensen Beach to be near her daughter and family. She was a beach lover, homemaker, an avid gardener and a member of the Women's Guild of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Miami, Fla. Her husband, Conleth S. O'Connell, Sr., preceded her in death 20 years ago.
She is survived by her children, daughter, F. Eileen Helfman, married to Howard; and three grandchildren, Lindsay, Beth and Brian, all of Stuart Fla..; son, Conleth S. O'Connell, Jr., married to Christina, and three grandchildren, Daniel, Sara and Megan, all residents of Austin, Texas; and her sister, Jerry Ann Wronker, married to Donald, residents of Boca Raton, Fla.
A wonderful woman who was rich in spirit and she lived her life always giving to others before herself.
