Free sloppy joe and hot dog meal July 10
A free community meal of sloppy joes and hot dogs will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. July 10 at Tunnel United Methodist Church on Ohio 550 and Coffman Road. For delivery within five miles, leave a message at 374-5634.
Benefit dinner at Marietta Shrine Club
A benefit for Ginger Moore McConnell will be held at 4 p.m. July 11 at the Marietta Shrine Club. Dinner will include chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes, green beans and a roll for $10. There will also be a live auction, country store, 50/50 and a performance by Pickin' on Country. McConnell is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Beverly Council will meet Wednesday
The Village of Beverly Council will hold a special meeting at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday to consider a street paving project and to determine the wages for a sewer line extension project inspector.
The village committee meetings will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The regular council meeting for July will be held at 7 p.m. July 9.
The Board of Public Affairs meeting will be held at 5 p.m. July 16.
All meetings will be held in the village office, 919 Mitchell Ave.
Benefit concert at Frontier football field
A benefit concert for Toby Bigelow featuring Anthony Mossburg will be held at 7 p.m. July 12 at the Frontier High School football field. The cost is $10 per person. There will be concessions. Seating is limited so bringing a chair or blanket is advised. Toby is an 8-year-old Newport resident battling ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia).
Farm Safety Day at Barlow Fairgrounds
A Farm Safety Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 26 at the Barlow Fairgrounds by the Washington Soil and Water Conservation District. The event is free and open to the public but an RSVP is required. The day will include a mock farm accident rescue, several breakout informational sessions and safety demonstrations for farmers/landowners, emergency personnel and youth. Lunch will be provided.
