Noah Clark Ward, 81, of Newport, was promoted to be in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, II Corinthians 5:8 "To be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord," at 10:21 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 17, 1933, in Washington County, Ohio, a son of Noah Clark Ward and Ethel Mae Shields Ward.
Clark was employed as a diesel mechanic at Arch of West Virginia, and was a member of Souls Harbor Baptist Church where he was a member of Reformers Unanimous.
Clark is survived by eight sons and six daughters, Virginia M. (Dave) King of Jamestown, N.C., Terry (Mary) Ward of Newport, Ohio, Larry Gale Ward of Winterhaven, Fla., Alan (Janet) Ward of Newport, Ohio, Rick (Angie) Ward of Newport, Jimmy (Jackie) Ward of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., Lora (Jeff) Holbert of Belpre, Theresa (Paul) Seevers of New Matamoras, Ohio, Barbara Ward of Bridgeport, W.Va., Clark (Sheila) Ward of Clarksburg, W.Va., Dan Ward of Bridgeport, W.Va., Tom (Marsha) Ward of Worthington, W.Va., Christina (Scott) Jay of St. Marys, W.Va., and Donna (Mack) Haessly of Marietta; 47 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Kenneth A. Ward of Bells Ridge. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Ward; grandchild, Jessie Carter; great-grandchild, Charlie Howard McKnight; two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, at Souls Harbor Baptist Church, with Pastor Robert Hughes officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, and one hour before the service at the church.
