DEVOLA - Marietta High School collected four goals in a stretch of 13 minutes late in the first half and never looked back as the Tigers routed the Belpre Golden Eagles 11-0 at the Devola Soccer Complex Tuesday night.
Six Tigers scored at least one goal in the game and seven different Tigers contributed an assist as the orange and black rebounded nicely from a tough 3-1 loss Saturday evening to the arch- rival Warren Warriors.
"Its always nice to get that first win under your belt especially after a a tough game like we had at Warren," said MHS head coach Todd Morris. "We are a very young team, so it's good to see the ball go in the goal and build a little confidence."

Marietta High’s Zach LaBarre (17) heads the ball as Belpre’s Zach Pribble (12) defends during prep soccer action at the Devola Soccer Complex Tuesday night. The Tigers won 11-0.
The game was the home opener for the Tigers and they wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as senior Jared Feathers and freshman Austyn Chen connected on back-to-back goals in the fifth minute of the game with assists from Owen LaBarre and Justin Hammons, respectively.
The co-ed Belpre squad held the Tigers scoreless for the next 16 minutes before senior Zach LaBarre scored an unassisted goal to increase the lead to 3-0.
LaBarre's goal triggered a barrage of Tiger goals and his second one ten minutes later followed a Gage Herb goal to make it 5-0 before the Eagles helped the Tigers cause by allowing an own goal with 6:18 to play in the half.

Next Game: Marietta at Dover (Aug. 26) Ohio Valley Christian at Belpre, Thursday.
While the Tigers' offense was executing to perfection in the first 40 minutes, the defense was equally impressive as goalie Michael Ullman went untested.
"Overall I thought we played really well in the midfield," said Morris. "I felt Ben Dehmlow and Gage Herb played very well centrally and the back with Andrew Roberts, Christian Kendall, Owen LaBarre and Zach Robinson were really solid."
Feathers collected his second goal of the game with just over 26 minutes to play on an assist from Herb, who in turn kicked in his second goal six minutes later with a little help from Chen.
The Tigers capped the scoring on a pair of late unassisted goals by junior Brandon Castillo and one by Hammons with an assist from Zach LaBarre.
"We had contributions from a lot of different guys," said Morris. "Being young we are going to keep getting better and better and games like this will help us get there."
The win evened the Tigers' season mark at 1-1 as they prepare to open East Central Ohio League play next Tuesday when they travel to Dover.
Morris thinks his inexperienced team will face quite a challenge when they begin league play but should be right in the mix once again for the league title.
"We know we will be in for a battle going to Dover, but we are looking forward to it," said Morris. "The ECOL (East Central Ohio League) should be very competitive with a whole lot of quality teams."
