BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) — Two West Virginia fire departments have been awarded federal funding for equipment and other purchases.

Congressman Nick Rahall announced the grants Thursday from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Rahall says the Cora Volunteer Fire Department in Logan County will receive more than $41,000 to purchase smoke, carbon monoxide and natural gas detectors for low-income households with senior citizens and children.

The Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department in Cabell County will receive more than $27,000 to buy 10 full sets of firefighting protective equipment.
