"Union fat-cats...myth or reality?"

So...you think labor unions are run by cigar chomping "Union Fat Cats", who receive outrageous salaries and benefits, while living a life of luxury comparable to Saudi Arabian Princes, lording their unrestrained power over the entire United States of America... all on the backs of the union-enslaved workers they represent. Here's your chance to prove it.

"It is not uncommons that Americans actively dislike unions, something very rare in Germany. One possible reason is that historically many unions in the US were allied with the mob; another is that they are viewed as a cartel that prevents the free market from establishing the true price of labor."

“US unions are often hostile towards strike breakers and force all employees of a unionized company to join the union. This is not the case in Germany: if you don't want to join, you don't; you will still get the benefits of the negotiated contract.”

It’s Always Sunny In Right To Work States . . .

"The difference is that in right-to-work states, unions need to earn the trust of their members by actually helping them out. Compare that to the postal unions, who would rather keep collecting dues of more members today and pass the buck on those employees’ pension plans. When the employees’ interest is not at heart, as was the case at Hostess, a lot of people wind up being out of work and far worse off."

In the “John Birch Society” forum topic, scrappile said . . . One of the main reasons I am an Independent since moving from a state that allowed me to declare as a Libertarian.

“Libertarian Party 2012 Platform” . . . “2.0 Economic Liberty” . . . “2.7 Labor Markets” . . .

“We support repeal of all laws which impede the ability of any person to find employment. We oppose government-fostered forced retirement. We support the right of free persons to associate or not associate in labor unions, and an employer should have the right to recognize or refuse to recognize a union. We oppose government interference in bargaining, such as compulsory arbitration or imposing an obligation to bargain.”

In the time it took you to write that a union shop would have had 2 coffee breaks and filed one grievance.

Let's end the “Union Fat Cats” war on workers’ freedom to choose whether or not they join a labor union and pay dues or fees at their place of work as a condition of employment.
