So...you think labor unions are run by cigar chomping "Union Fat Cats", who receive outrageous salaries and benefits, while living a life of luxury comparable to Saudi Arabian Princes, lording their unrestrained power over the entire United States of America... all on the backs of the union-enslaved workers they represent. Extend the protection of the Federal minimum wage laws to as many more workers as is possible and practicable;

Continue to fight for the elimination of discrimination in employment because of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry or sex;

Provide assistance to improve the economic conditions of areas faced with persistent and substantial unemployment;

Revise and improve the Taft-Hartley Act so as to protect more effectively the rights of labor unions, management, the individual worker, and the public.

The protection of the right of workers to organize into unions and to bargain collectively is the firm and permanent policy of the Eisenhower Administration.

A school district is attempting to force teachers to pay union dues for the next 10 years, despite being located in Michigan, which is now a right-to-work state that specifically prohibits mandatory unionization.

Michigan became the 24th right-to-work state in December. But the law doesn’t take effect until March 28 — giving unions time to grandfather in their contracts if they can get them approved before the deadline. As part of this effort, the Taylor School District approved an entirely separate “union security agreement” that will force teachers to keep paying the union until 2023. But three Taylor teachers who want to leave the union said enough is enough. “I believe it is unfair of the union to have a security clause that requires me to be a member for 10 years,” said Rebecca Metz, a Taylor teacher.

A lawyer representing the three teachers framed the issue as a clear case of a union and a school district attempting to thwart the will of the legislature.

Through the efforts of unions there are things like child labor laws, 40 hr work week, insurance, sick pay, increased safety,vacations , and the list goes on and on ! Why cant these weak-minded brain-washed "people" understand that without union struggles we would all still be working 80hr weeks ,6 days a week for nearly nothing ! And unions assure workers rights and keep businesses from taking advantage of workers ! I think the history of unions tells the true story ! Things like the 40 hr work week , child labor laws , paid vacations , sick days , and the list goes on and on ! When ever a person makes a CHOICE to either A: work at a union shop or B: work at a non-union shop they are making their own personal CHOICE !!!When you say they have no choice your LYING !! ~~~Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. You can choose to stay at the union shop and enjoy the benefits of collective bargaining or , you can find yourself a nice non-union job ! Since 87% arent union that should'nt be a problem ! So the choice is still there !
