"Union fat-cats...myth or reality?"

So...you think labor unions are run by cigar chomping "Union Fat Cats", who receive outrageous salaries and benefits, while living a life of luxury comparable to Saudi Arabian Princes, lording their unrestrained power over the entire United States of America... all on the backs of the union-enslaved workers they represent. Here's your chance to prove it.

Well Absolem despite the tactics or perhaps because of them, unions continue thier slide into oblivion, if not for public sector unions, they would be nearly extinct now.

hostility...thuggish behavior....intimidation...of such a benevolent and forthright organization....surely you jest. i noticed the NLRB has shortened the time for elections in order to help the unions odds along with the unsavory requirement that employers provide private information regarding emplyee names and addresses. i really want the union privy to that iformation.....

I never felt the IAM represented me or my crews values and they sure didn't support the politicians that we did, so what are we to do? Quit or have our dues support an agenda that we felt was harmful to our liberties

These are reasonable and rational questions sure to be met with hostility name calling and wild accusations

What is wrong with a union member opting out of the Union if he feels it no longer represents him or her without quitting thier job?

Note the resistance to freedom of choice demonstrated by those Union supporters. What is wrong with a union member opting out of political support for any candidate?

The thug like tactics and the support of socialist big government are not in the spirit of a free society

While labor unions had thier place in history, the role has changed, and not for the better I will add

Yes some topics breed a little more obsessive behavior than others, this one seems to be a hot button for some. Honest discussion of the role of labor unions shouldn't be so contentious

Absolem you will find many examples on these forums of the following:

Most people on forums such as this do not read what others post with the intent to understand.

Most people read with the intent to reply.

One further point, anonymity absolutey brings out the worst in some, being able to say things that one would never say face to face, either out of fear of a swift rebuke or a right hand. Cowards love this medium, cyber bullies are rampant over the interwebs lol

There is often more projection than a movie theater in here! Lots ok, this is a mild diversion for me and I sure don't take anything personally, but on that rare occasion one can actually have a reasoned discussion, rare as it is it's worth the wait

Another day above ground so how can it be bad, I agree with your sentiments about the typed word. Some come here to vent their anger and actually let this silly little forum upset them, even to the point of obsession. There is so little actual information that human nature is to fill in the the missing pieces with supposition and preconceived notions, additionally straw men are created that represent that which a person is angry at, leading to the obsession. That's my take and it's free so don't ask for a refund ;)

the really important question is how are you doing this fine day?...and i thank you for asking earlier of myself.

Stillhere...things are going well here and hope that you are doing even better. my participation in these forums and sometimes contentious discussions has taught me several things. one....even anonymity does not encourage one to be hosest, remorseful or even cordial when given the chance. i would argue that it actually does the opposite. two...the typed word looses its intent at times without having the additional visual support as in face to face meetings. 3...exchanging ideas, especially when people disagree is a good thing. accepting others in spite of those disagreements is the hardest thing. perhaps thats where some run off the rails when it comes to belief systems. many wrestle and have given up on the concept of loving each other but not loving what they do. somehow many feel that they can't be exclusive of each other without negating the love and appreciation for ones neighbor or forum poster.
