Are states who do not require Photo ID in order to vote encouraging fraudulent elections?

Recently, the obama administration's attorney general struck down laws in Texas and South Carolina requiring voters to show a Photo ID before they can vote claiming it "disenfranchises" voters. Now illegals, dead people, and other unauthorized voters will be able to vote freely in elections. In effect, giving people the right to conduct fraudulent elections. Is this fair to legal voters?

BobDahler. good afternoon. how many fraudulant votes would it take for you to support any or all of the voter reforms that you are protesting with your comment? i am certain you would not appreciate you legal vote being negated by one of the ten fraudulent votes that you don't seem to mind.

I've never had a problem with having proper ID to be able to vote. One already needs ID to do just about everything in this nation. You drive...need and ID. Open an account....need an ID. Need to get married....need an ID. As long as the govt makes the process to get the ID easy and allows it to be an ID you can use for more than just voting, I'm all for it.

I would be insulted if people on the left told me I am not smart enough to get a picture ID.

You may prevent perhaps 10 fraudulent votes from being cast with your beloved "voter reform" laws, and in the process prohibit perhaps MILLIONS of legitimate votes in the process...

How is this enhancing the "American political experience"?

That is a confusing account of voter activity. I have to sign "in" to vote. there is a record if I vote and if I don't vote.

moderation...apparently some have. "In last year’s Senate race nearly 5000 illegal aliens cast their vote in the election. The revelation comes from Colorado Secretary of State, Scott Gessler. Testifying before the House Administration Committee, Gessler said his department conducted a study comparing the state’s voter registration database against driver’s license records. After doing so they discovered 12,000 illegal aliens living in the state who were registered to vote. Of these, 5,000 actually cast votes in the last election."

Republican in Massachussetts going to prison for voter fraud, he must have been a 'legal' to run for office, no? There is more than voter id in these state voter regulations, as Paul Weyrich said. "We do not want more people to vote.", ......

Mod, there's very little in today's world that does not require an official photo ID. You need a photo ID to obtain medical care, at least every medical facility I've been treated at requires one.

This BS claim that it's a burden for some to obtain photo ID is just that, BS. Liberals fight it because it's difficult for illegals to cast a ballot if a photo ID is required.

My thought is that these organizations could be more productive by assisting their less than motivated members in getting the ID’s rather than putting them up as victims.

The North Carolina NAACP and others had been fighting the prospect of a voter photo ID requirement by basically claiming that their constituents are too stupid to get a picture taken.

I am sure glad they don’t represent me.

MOd, we have a nation of people who can't figure out how to get a photo ID which means they can not travel by plane, get loans at bankks and do other sortts of important stuff, but for the sake of conversation...........How do you expect them to figure out Obamacare and the Health Insurance exchanges if they can't figure out how to get a picture taken?

Mod, any of the states that have passed Voter ID laws specified a government issued ID card, Federal or State. Like a Driver's License, Military ID, or State ID card. And any of the states who have passed the laws also included language that would allow issue of state ID's free to those who lacked the means to pay for them.

"Significant travel?" State ID's are issued any place where they issue Drivers License's. Ohio's state issued ID's are a whopping $8.50 for an initial issue, $7.50 for a renewal. The cheapest Drivers License fee is for just an operator's license, $23.00.

If you don't have a valid photo ID, how do you obtain medical treatment? Every new treatment center I've been to ask for my DL before they'll see me, every ER visit requires a state issued ID.

Now then, illegals have a tough time getting valid state ID cards.

beright-once again, with consistantly, extremely small (,00?) percentages of attempted voter fraud, in this country, why are certain states requiring not just a photo ID, but a specific fee related one, that often involves significant travel?
