A new documentary film, "Looking for Superman" suggests that American education is severly flawed. Is this view justified?

As a former history teacher, I believe that the majority of today's public issues are rooted in the quality - or lack thereof - of American education. Never in my own memory have I noticed so many students (and adults) who are so uninformed about even the most basic facts of history, civics, geography ... Recent studies suggest that U.S. schools rank well below other nations in the disciplines of math and science ... "Waiting for Superman" (which needs to be shown locally) says that the "blame" or "responsibility" for this sad state of affairs rests upon several factors - i.e. the distractions of TV and computer games; teachers' unions that support "tenure" for some incompetent teachers; uncaring parents; "pressure groups" that demonize public education to promote private, sectarian schools; politicians who burden schools with "unfunded mandates" like "No Child Left Behind" ... Or is it "all of the above"

We are Ohio is where the Union Bosses propagate LIES about the Ohio Workplace Freedom Amendment and other Right To Work laws . . .

Munster secretly knows that the Union Fat Cats’ fight against the Ohio Workplace Freedom Amendment has nothing to do with helping Today’s Workers and all to do with keeping the big flow of union donations to candidates of the Union Fat Cats’ CHOICE and feathering their own nests.

The long-time retired dues exempt Munster & a teacher of 28+ years are primarily interesting in feathering their own nest by means of denying the Today’s workers the freedom to choose whether to participate in a labor organization as a condition of employment. Now you know . . . why Munster has to resort to name-calling, insults, and wildly false claims in his vehement fight against Today’ workers’ freedom to choose whether to participate in a labor organization as a condition of employment..

The truth is the long-time retired 'dues exempt' UWS member CANNOT "accept the facts" so he has to resort to the pathetic 'piling on' postings of CUT & PASTE rants of name-calling, insults, wild claims, lies, and half-truths!

Speaking of "obsessive CUT & PASTE rants", I notice that the long-time retired ‘dues exempt’ USW/NEA stooge is busy proving the point that he cannot defend his union fat cats without his CUT & PASTE rants of name-calling, insults, and wild claims about other in these forum topics!

“What won’t kids learn?”

“Students would have a great time trying to figure out what happened to legendary Teamsters President James Hoffa, Sr. Now there’s a juicy tale of how Big Labor sometimes handles its internal disagreements and power disputes. And they didn’t even bother with a funeral.”

“What won’t kids learn?”

“How about a lesson about the Detroit Federation of Teachers? Putting its thirst to maintain revenue above teacher quality, the union demanded the firing of 70 teachers for non-payment of dues. What if one of those educators was the Teacher of the Year who provided wonderful service to thousands of school children? Too bad. This is what solidarity looks like.”

“As the intensity of the disagreement increased, union leaders wanted to make sure that all of their members were united in the battle against the school district. And union officials were apparently willing to use intimidation and vandalism to enforce that unity.”

“ “Cars were keyed, tires had screws put into them, tires were slashed, and windows were smashed in vehicles,” Ferrara wrote.”

“That’s how unions deal with members who don’t fall in line.”

Union Bosses (past and present) stopped from using compulsory union dues as their personal EBT card.

. . .

“The union was not specified. However, one of the board members seeking the Hawaii trip, Barbra Phillips, a school-bus driver in Ashland, is president of her local Ohio Association of Public School Employees union; the other, Catherine Moss, a retired school worker who is now an administrative secretary at Lakeland Community College, is a past president of the union.”

We are Ohio is where the NEA/OEA Union Bosses LIE about the Ohio Workplace Freedom Amendment and other Right To Work laws . . .

"Unions sole revenue stream depends on forcing workers to pay compolsory union dues – less members, less dues; less dues, less revenue for Union Fats Cats”

The long-time retired dues exempt Munster finally admits what this is all about . . .The Union Fat Cats’ war on the workers’ freedom to choose whether to participate in a labor organization as a condition of employment.

After all his name-calling, insults, and wild claims (which he has proven he is still extremely worried) Munster fully admits that the Union Fat Cats aim has nothing to do with helping Today’s Workers and all to do with keeping the big flow of union donations to candidates of the Union Fat Cats’ CHOICE and feathering their own nests.
