A new documentary film, "Looking for Superman" suggests that American education is severly flawed. Is this view justified?

As a former history teacher, I believe that the majority of today's public issues are rooted in the quality - or lack thereof - of American education. Never in my own memory have I noticed so many students (and adults) who are so uninformed about even the most basic facts of history, civics, geography ... Recent studies suggest that U.S. schools rank well below other nations in the disciplines of math and science ... "Waiting for Superman" (which needs to be shown locally) says that the "blame" or "responsibility" for this sad state of affairs rests upon several factors - i.e. the distractions of TV and computer games; teachers' unions that support "tenure" for some incompetent teachers; uncaring parents; "pressure groups" that demonize public education to promote private, sectarian schools; politicians who burden schools with "unfunded mandates" like "No Child Left Behind" ... Or is it "all of the above"

Surprise, surprise, whenever you see “Munster” that means he is in part funded by a teacher of 28+ years. Now let us see how many times “Munster” cut and pastes his non-stop name-calling and insults.

Put the “Majority rules” to the test . . .

Support the Ohio Workplace Freedom Amendment.

Let the “Majority” decide.

Majority rules and Munster is afraid that he will be in the minority if the Ohio Workplace Freedom Amendment is placed on the ballot and it passes by a “Majority” of Ohio voters.

Yeah, yeah, typical Munster retort! Munster is not willing to give up his dues exempt USW union membership and if the Ohio Workplace Freedom restricts a NEA Union Fat Cat’s ability to freeload off the compulsory members . . . I suspect everyone will still be continuously bombarded with your repeating cut & paste posts that regurgitates from your tiny USW brain. I guess you should be thankful that your capable of doing that much.

The proposed amendment would provide that, in Ohio:

3. Any person, directly or indirectly affected or threatened with any harm by a violation of this section, may bring a civil or equitable action to enforce this section, and upon prevailing, shall be entitled to injunctive relief, reasonable attorney fees, costs, and other damages.
