What happened to the "Union Influence in Politics" topic?

Even though I initiated it as the debut topic in the Times forums, I'm happy to realize it has been deleted. It died an ugly death long ago, and should have been executed long before it was. I'm curious though... Why? I am unaware of the travesty that occurred that was sufficiently heinous to warrant it's deletion... As compared to the tripe on ALL the other threads that is evident on a daily basis.

Some conservatives forget, however, that despite the anti-amnesty fervor on the right, the grandfather of amnesty happens to be one of the Republican Party’s most beloved heroes: President Ronald Reagan.

To realize his vision of what he calls "the new America," President George W. Bush proposed a dramatic and sweeping expansion of American immigration policy, including amnesty for an estimated 9 million to 12 million illegal aliens living in the U.S.

Nascarnut....years ago. But as you are aware, the current stable of politicians are the ones that have the power to address the cited concerns.

the hangover Reagan left over immigration reform in 1986 by granting amnesty to nearly 3 million illegal immigrants.

The Immigration Reform and Control Act was pitched as a get-tough moment, with sanctions on employers and beefed-up border control. But it was largely a failure.

We failed at securing our borders, we failed at repelling global terrorism, and we have failed to uphold what has made America strong.

When did we start failing on these fronts??...

it does appear that our democratic leaders find themselves in a bit of a quandry when personal wealth is exposed. but listen the impoverished will find comfort in being told that their political warriors need their own personal wealth to legislate the oppositions wealth for their beleaguered condition.

moderation, i would hope that you would agree that capitalism occurs in most cases normally and most of the tenets of socialism must be mandated as it goes against the individual will of many (except for the leeches in society). if anything, i feel that the laws that allow the free flow of ideas and products into the marketplace prevent the dark side of socialism. which is mostly dark IMO. i find it odd that so many democrats hurl with godspeed at psushing socilaistic ideas that they would not be breaking the speed of light to reach their socialistic nirvana that exists in the oppressed regimes around the world. even Fraulein Pelosi appreciates her own brand of personal capitalism.

There are no mandates with capitalism, What have you been forced to do under penalty of law to support Capitalism???

I don't think you understand the meaning of the two terms.

Ahhhh Socialism Ideas so good they have to be mandated! Now let's hear it for the mandates that facilitate capitalism. Just a bit louder, please,I can barely hear ya.

Unions are tools of the left that extract Monies from working people to support a socialist agenda

Unions don't own the work, the shop or the company so there are no " Union jobs".

Posted 152 days ago.

Ohwiseone

But they do get a choice ! They can chose to work in a union shop or not to ! What is the reason for one who doesn't want to be in a union to seek a job in a union shop ? Simple really , it better pay and working conditions and better benefits brought about by union leverage ! Your idiocy is saying that you want to reap the benefits that were acquired by a lot of work and effort and never have to lift a finger for it ! That's the typical republican way !

Stillhere

Scott Walker clearly has the right idea, let people choose if they wish to be in a Union or not. Simple really, but as I said, unions cannot thrive on a level playing field, but that's why they attract the "dead weight" of society
