What happened to the "Union Influence in Politics" topic?

Even though I initiated it as the debut topic in the Times forums, I'm happy to realize it has been deleted. It died an ugly death long ago, and should have been executed long before it was. I'm curious though... Why? I am unaware of the travesty that occurred that was sufficiently heinous to warrant it's deletion... As compared to the tripe on ALL the other threads that is evident on a daily basis.

Remember last November OWO.?? You just may get your clocks cleaned by a Walker Carly or Trump... Why.. Because they are more than Community Organizers or Secretaries of State with NO SUCCESSES... They all 3 have a proven history of success... YOU cannot argue against that !!

NasCarNut: I suppose card check is a good idea also.

Interesting that a Union Worker had to get to the Supreme court to get some of their money back.

Lot of group pressure in a union where group think is expected.

The landmark U.S. Supreme Court case Communications Workers of America v. Beck (1988) lets union members get a refund for the part of their dues that are used for political activity.

google more about your beck rights...

Here is what you said: 13% of the workforce that does'nt have as great an impact as it once did.

Union still contribute Millions to elections instead of using that money on their members.

There you go with your idiotic right-wing indoctrination ! No#1 union workers pay dues , they arent "extorted " from them !And unions much like you and me have the right to donate to whomever they wish ! Just because republinuts have done everything in their power to hamper and destroy unions you have this idea that unions should donate to those who want them gone ! Now thats makes sense !(sarcasm)Typical right-wing thinking ! Unions are not the financial juggernaut they once were , your side in their zeal to try to get elected have taken to attacking any funding that is going to democrats and its as simple as that !

Unions, as you keep saying, represent only 13% of the work force. That is not the point when it comes to election finances. Those unions are still able to extort millions of dollars for from their members in the form of dues. The members no longer get what they pay for but the dues money is still a factor in campaigns. Those dues are inserted into the campaigns in the form of campaign contributions. That dues money helps elect the people who run cities like Baltimore, Chicago, Philadelphia and the poster boy of corruption, Ray Nagin of New Orleans. In 2014 the NEA donated $29M to Libs and Dems. Service Employees Inter $23M. AFLCIO 9M. Not chump change.

You all take great stock on the whole union thing ! There was a time when having union backing was necessary but with unions now only owning 13% of the workforce that does'nt have as great an impact as it once did !

DEMOCRAT 2016 HOPEFUL Sen. Bernie Sanders is seeing a surge in support from unions members across the US, a mix of long-time backers and potential voters apparently wary of Hillary Clinton’s relationship with Wall Street and Big Business.

You all never learn do you ??? You just keep on voting for what you think is a good thing at the expense of the WORLD not to mention the countries morals...
