What happened to the "Union Influence in Politics" topic?

Even though I initiated it as the debut topic in the Times forums, I'm happy to realize it has been deleted. It died an ugly death long ago, and should have been executed long before it was. I'm curious though... Why? I am unaware of the travesty that occurred that was sufficiently heinous to warrant it's deletion... As compared to the tripe on ALL the other threads that is evident on a daily basis.

r1ki-Eisenhower saw the abuse of those ww2 governments that were dominating the lives of their populations.you cannot portray him as a socialist,and certainly not a fascist.but, continue your drone..... It is among the best campaign messages the left could hope for.

Extend the protection of the Federal minimum wage laws to as many more workers as is possible and practicable;

Continue to fight for the elimination of discrimination in employment because of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry or sex;

Provide assistance to improve the economic conditions of areas faced with persistent and substantial unemployment;

Revise and improve the Taft-Hartley Act so as to protect more effectively the rights of labor unions, management, the individual worker, and the public.

The protection of the right of workers to organize into unions and to bargain collectively is the firm and permanent policy of the Eisenhower Administration.

The Eisenhower Administration will continue to fight for dynamic and progressive programs which, among other things, will:

Stimulate improved job safety of our workers, through assistance to the States, employees and employers;

Continue and further perfect its programs of assistance to the millions of workers with special employment problems, such as older workers, handicapped workers, members of minority groups, and migratory workers;

Strengthen and improve the Federal-State Employment Service and improve the effectiveness of the unemployment insurance system;

Protect by law, the assets of employee welfare and benefit plans so that workers who are the beneficiaries can be assured of their rightful benefits;

Assure equal pay for equal work regardless of Sex;

Federally-assisted construction, and maintain and continue the vigorous administration of the Federal prevailing minimum wage law for public supply contracts;

Let me assure you that the VAST MAJORITY of union members want to be there and dont mind paying their share for the benefits they recieve !You believe all the garbage propaganda the right-wing goober fests tell you and since you have NO EXPERIANCE you just cant axccept the facts !And just HOW IS MAKING A CHOICE , NOT MAKING A CHOICE ???

Wow , what a line of crap !! So I suppose this is your new "go to" website ! Well thats their opinion as idiotic as it is !Unions are still the line in the sand for the safety of workers ! And unions assure workers rights and keep businesses from taking advantage of workers ! I think the history of unions tells the true story ! Things like the 40 hr work week , child labor laws , paid vacations , sick days , and the list goes on and on ! You may not be union but you can thank unions for what benefits you get !When poor wrongriki cant find a VALID arguement this is the garbage you have to deal with !Deflect ,deny , mis-lead and lie , thats exactly what wrongriki is doing now ! Please back up your claim (lie) that I'm receiving benefits from the union !Please let us all in on it !

In the time it took you to write that a union shop would have had 2 coffee breaks and filed one grievance.

Yes, right to work for less !End the republican war on workers ! The whole of your arguement is that people dont have a choice RIGHT ?Well seems to me that if a person either chooses to work at A: a union shop or B: a non-union shop they are making a conscience choice ! SO EXACTLY HOW IS MAKING A CHOICE NOT A CHOICE !!

munster, i would have no problem negotiating a compensation package. i have negotiated contract capital purchases for a living. my logic does not punish union workers. it just allows people to freely negotiate their own employment terms. so what if anyone is able to walk in and negotiate a better or worse compensation package than the union has provided. i say let the union negotiate for those that wish for the representation and let the others negotiate freely. let those that use the service pay for the service. would you have a problem with that? btw, why should the union determine the non-union payscale... except to tilt the scale toward the union.

munster, did you not notice that i never said that they did not have a choice. my assertion was that the choice being given to them was wrong in requiring them to choose between joining the union or not having the right or freedom to work where they wished. if people desire to join the union...fine so be it. but those that do not wish too, but want to work there for whatever reason should be able to do so without union interference. that means they should be able to negotiate their salary and benefits on their own. then you will see whether the union can sell itself without forced servitude. what are the unions afraid of????

your party supports the same thing happening to the immigrants that have followed the process but have been by-passed by those that jumped the border. why would you not apply the same logic to your union?

Posted 872 days ago.

munster, i am a fairly intelligent man that may view things slightly different than you and i tend to think i am fair. i understand your loyalty to your union and appreciate what it has done for you. but you should agree and support someone that doesn't agree with you or your union to have the right to provide for their family because it is the right thing to do. the numbers are not the mitigating factor. people are. there are people that want to work and should have to right to work. period.

lets make this real simple munster, should people have the right to freely negotiate and seek employment anywhere in the united states being totally unemcumbered? yes or no?

Posted 872 days ago.

munster, with each post of yours, you are simply adding new levels to the word "insane". do you ever notice how often you repeat yourself?

munster, if i tell my employees and potential hires that they must join my facilities union, that btw supports the republican party, to be employed, then they too can make a choice correct? you would not have a problem with that? you would not think that they are being forced into choosing something they they otherwise may not choose? the right to seek and procure gainful employment should be a "free" right as much as breath itself. the employers as well as the unions have created this exclusionary choice in the work force both public and private and to say otherwise is just you being asinine. maybe you should harken back to the days of segregated water coolers. to drink from this one...you must be white. remember you do have choice to drink or not drink. thats ok with you...right massa?
