What happened to the "Union Influence in Politics" topic?

Even though I initiated it as the debut topic in the Times forums, I'm happy to realize it has been deleted. It died an ugly death long ago, and should have been executed long before it was. I'm curious though... Why? I am unaware of the travesty that occurred that was sufficiently heinous to warrant it's deletion... As compared to the tripe on ALL the other threads that is evident on a daily basis.

Yes,there is a constant chill to the air. I have well gas and plenty of firewood to keep things comfy here , lts. two x six inch insulated walls and brick exterior make a very heat efficient nest.

you know mod, in as much as it would make companies more profitable, i have to believe that many of the agreements were to transfer wealth to other economies as well as strengthen relationships between our countries and expand trade that utilized less labor in our country such as technology and information. the easy scapegoat is to demonize the evil corporations. but take a moment and look at the outsourcing that is being expanded by GE through this administration. i am not saying that this administration is any more "evil" than the last...i am simply stating that nothing has changed to stem the flow of jobs even when it is obvious that something quick and positive must be done.

when jobs started leaving us for foreign labor markets, there were no acceptable concessions that could be made to retain said jobs.

hey there, lts. Things are well, thanks. And you?

moderation, imo it would be a factor. how much is debateable...but every flea needs a dog...doesn't it? that is why the unions desperately need to get a foothold in as many government jobs as they can. not just for the relative job stability but for the political clout that comes with it.

munster, check your facts my friend. according to abc news the top ten politicians in america contain 60% democrat, 40% republican and 10% independent. you may wish to check on the cngress and senate...but i think you will find an equal blend of dem and rep.

sad about your indoctrination. btw, you may not have noticed but you folks have minimum wage jobs in your neck of the woods. you are just showing your regional prejudice against the south. we will gladly let your companies bring jobs down here...but keep your unions and high taxes up there. they have served you so well.

would the decline of manufacturing in the usa be a major contributing factor to the loss of union jobs and membership?

munster, contrary to what you may believe, not everyone gets their "tripe" as you call it from some right-wing propganda machine. some, like me, use my life experience and logic to form opinions. quite possibly you may wish to accept that there are others that view the world differently than you. i have come to terms with that myself. reality check here for you dear friend...you have posted many times how all one needs to do is come down to the hall and tell your union members how downtrodden they are. i think all i did was ask you why the threat or dare? you can not possibly defend the violent nature of your unions legacy with a straight face can you? a simple invitaion to see the other side would have been more persuasive argument in defense of your statement. however, i do think you meant exactly what i understood it to mean. look i think its great that you enjoyed your union and it benefitted you, but you deny basic truths that everyone knows exists. that is what is so

Munster, why would you dare someone to come to a union hall? what would they have to fear? is that just indicative of the mentality of union members? brute force without logic? it seems from past experience, the mob mentality has become a trait associated with your union brothers and sisters. you may wish to represent your union ideals better than just issuing a veiled threat, but that does appeal to one's basic instinct's. quite possibly you have insinuated a great reason for the populace to keep and bear firearms. your thuggery may spread.
