What happened to the "Union Influence in Politics" topic?

Even though I initiated it as the debut topic in the Times forums, I'm happy to realize it has been deleted. It died an ugly death long ago, and should have been executed long before it was. I'm curious though... Why? I am unaware of the travesty that occurred that was sufficiently heinous to warrant it's deletion... As compared to the tripe on ALL the other threads that is evident on a daily basis.

Charleston, SC. Nice airport. Downtown can not handle anymore traffic.

Oh yeah and don't forget this little bit of History:

The 1808 ban on the United States' participation in the international slave trade led to a renewed demand for slave labor, which was satisfied, in part, by the creation of a domestic slave-trading system in which Charleston functioned as a major slave collecting and reselling center.

You didn't just pay into it, you were FORCED to pay into it as a matter of law, just like all good socialist ideas, you have to force people to participate at the point of a gun

Ohwiseone

Yeah , prove to me that" those that work hardest cans succeed " ! I'd say they will make what everyone else is paid regardless of how hard they work !

Unions hate American companies? Make way for foreign ones, They won't let you bully them into a corner

Absolem, Japanese companies like Toyota have flourished here in the U.S.. Wages and benefits are first rate and a good ole non union workforce where those that work hardest cans succeed

Stillhere, it was interesting to read that Volvo is owned by a chinese holding company but that management is largely european. the BMW plant has done pretty well being in South Carolina...i do think that Charleston is better suited fo many reasons. but then again...neither asked for my opinion.

Yea Absolem I will be watching the Volvo plant as well, should be interesting

On top of that social security is a " socialist" program , so you of course wont accept checks from them !

Ohwiseone

Then why didn't you give up your so called "stewardship" ? And you can whine all you want , you're still talking about 13% of the workforce ! Unions aren't what they once were !

You see MOD, my issues with unions is that they have become political tools and have been for quite a while. Their support of a socialist society and left wing causes championed by democrats is at the heart of my critique.

btw...you have people in south carolina don't you????? if they are near charleston then they may wish to dust off and update their resume(s).

absolem

OWO....you may make mention of the new Volvo plant that will be built in South Carolina. it will be interesting to see the how's and why's of the potential unionization of the expected 2-4 thousand workers. that juicy fruit may be too hard for them not to doggedly persue.

Obviously the same can be said about our president who you and your fellow whiners have mercilessly slammed for the last 7 years ! You aren't always going to get your way ! That's something you should have learned in kindergarten ! Maybe you did but in your angst of losing an election you've chosen to ignore it !

I couldn't care less if a group of people want to organize themselves but I don't think hey should be able to take with them those that don't, do you MOD?
