While Romney has condemned Todd Akin (R-Missouri) definitions of "rape", the G.O.P. convention in Tampa has adopted Akin's views ... Who will call the shots in Tampa - Romney or those who support Akin/Ryan views?

The Republicans are in a bind! Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele just said on MSNBC that the inclusion of Todd Akin-type "Personhood" planks in the 2012 RNC Platform is "puzzling" ... While Romney just wants to be President (without really committing himself on anything except his view that he shouldn't reveal his tax records), his VP running-mate Ryan and other wingnuts on the far right want to control the agenda - an agenda that includes voucherizing Medicare, gutting social programs and education, and outlawing nearly all forms of birth-control for women ... Will Republicans self-destruct - or will Hurricane Sarah intervene and save their butts from themselves? Perhaps prayer will work!
