When a U.S. President, a member of Congress, or any state official is accused of wrongdoing, they are put into the national media spotlight by CNN, FOX or MSNBC. But when local officials betray the trust of constituents, who investigates them?

As the debate continues to rage about "returning government to the local level", at least one important fact is being overlooked (perhaps on purpose) by opponents of "big government". While federal or state officials are carefully scrutinized by national or state media outlets, who is on hand to prevent local foxes (and vixens) from doing whatever they want in the local henhouse? Remember the two Washington County Commissioners who were accused last year of shredding public documents? Whatever happened in that case?
