Religious Ignorance in the US

Recently we have had letters sent to the editor that have used incorrect quotes from our Founding Fathers on the subject of religion. Are people so lazy that they cannot see that the quotea are wrong? The USA was NOT founded on Christianity; Christians merely make up the majority of the population.

you are indeed correct. government mandated asherance does not exist. i fail to see the point of your repeat as i was not disagreeing with your intent. i just presented numbers which could allude to the fact that the majority has not nationalized one faith.

NN...i agree with you regarding any religious symbols should not be on publicly-owned vehicles or property unless it is set aside for all as a means of recognition rather than promotion. but also to the point...according to pew 70% identify as Christian here in the U.S. from one report i saw. if this is indeed true, then we are closer to being a christian nation than not without imposing laws that demand adherence under duress or penalty....unlike some around the world. so props are due in this case to christians.

OWO...I accept that you may not recall as I am unwilling at the moment to prove you to be mistaken. I still have a fairly good memory...don't tell my wife...please. my life is too good to have my ruse exposed.

OWO...firstly..i am not wasting my time looking back through all of the coversations on here to affirm what i know. secondly...can you say that you never referred to anyone as being a homophobe in your posts...ever???? keep in mind there are people that do have the ability to recall many of what all of us post.

OWO...in a rare turn of events i actually agree with you that the Pope as well as anyone on our soil can feel anyway they wish about any subject and have the right to act as they wish within their domain. however, the problem i had was that you freely and without warning throw the homophobic label as well as any other like mini-chiclets into an eager mouth waiting for a good chew. frankly i think he did the right thing and agree with him...now he needs to clean house of the sexual exploitation of those young men that serve the Church. that would be a positive step in squashing the legacy that the Catholics have carried for way too long. as i have mentioned i have a soft spot for catholics...although i personally don't particularly like some of their theological mandates and actions. i am extremely happy just like the Doobie Brothers sang..."Jesus is just alright with me".

unless he can apply some ridiculous label to you.

others do this also...

OWO apparently feels he can't dispute whatever you say unless he can apply some ridiculous label to you. There ARE labels that apply to those that skim through life employing that practice, none of which are very flattering from an intellectual basis.

OWO.....I can't stop laughing at your post. You label others as being homophobic but give the Pope free reign. I love it. And the kicker is .....you aren't even Catholic!!!!!! Who else gets a pass???

OWO...any rebukes for the Pope letting go of the Gay Bishop? Homophobic or adherance to select verses from the Holy Text? you decide.

NCN....i see where you reposted from rationawiki. however a visit to the EUtimes site revealed that it does post on stories aroundd the globe. just one story posted was based on a Greek publications article on immigrants. i think the EUtimes is really no worse than any main stream media outlet in that they utilize the Associated Press as their sources on many stroies. therefore, we are dependent upon the integrity of those that submit stories and events to the Associated Press. every article must be taken with a grain of salt and even the most trusted news source in the world reports with a bias...otherwise every article would be a point-counter-point read. i don't think that happens...do you?

The officials said Mercer lamented the fact that he did not have a girlfriend. "He said he had no life," another  official said, adding: "He felt the world was against him."

Christopher Harper Mercer, 26. Myspace**** Former acquaintances and social-media postings  paint a picture of Mercer as a withdrawn young man who spent a lot of  time on the Internet. He appeared to be sympathetic to the  predominantly Catholic Irish Republican Army — but also posted online  that he was "not religious."

This is a real story from the law enforcement officials who investigating this incident.

The heavily armed gunman who slaughtered nine people at an Oregon  college left a hate-filled note at the scene of his rampage and "felt  the world was against him," law enforcement officials confirmed Friday.

Two officials familiar with the contents of the  note say 26-year-old Christopher Harper Mercer, who was killed in after  an exchange of gunfire with police Thursday at Umpqua Community College, wrote that he would be "welcomed in*****and embraced by the devil."

He wrote that he was "in a bad way," one official said. "He was depressed, sullen."

It's unclear if they actually believe this stuff or they just think that their readers are gullible morons.

I'll go with the latter...

In addition to the raging xenophobia, the European Union Times strays deeply into tinfoil hat territory. For example, it regularly re-publishes the hilarious "reports" of "Sorcha Faal", which means that it is either subscribed (i.e., paying) for the Sorcha Faal feed, or close to the original source. If you see a headline that is really "out there" (for example, US Earthquake Weapon Test Fails Again, Destroys New Zealand City[9]), scroll to the bottom and have a look at the "Source" link. If it points to whatdoesitmean****, it's the handwork of "Sorcha". (That article also contains a massive research fail — it quotes the Russian Space Forces command (VKS) as its source, but the link "VKS" leads to the site of a Russian industrial company, VKS.ru!) The EUTimes has also re-published material from Pravda Online, another site dedicated to conspiracy theories, such as a 2010 article about alien spaceships attacking Earth in 2012.
